Introduction and important information before you start the test

Before getting to the heart of the matter, I wanted to transparently give you some details on the context of this test.

    • Introduction and important information before you start the test
    • An opinion written freely in collaboration with the brand
    • A vehicle considered as a moped by French regulations
    • My prowe EP-2 Pro test
    • A design that does not go unnoticed

An opinion written freely in collaboration with the brand

I did not buy the Engwe EP-2 Pro, it was the brand that offered to test it and sent me a copy for free. I thank them for this beautiful gift and for their confidence. However, I remain 100% free to give my opinion. You will see that below the opinion is generally positive (because without spoiling you I liked it) but I also point to some faults.

The article contains affiliated links, that is to say that if you click on one of the links and then buy the product, I will receive a commission. It’s a common practice on the web and I’m not hiding from it. However, I point out that this point does not in any way influence my opinion. My goal is simply to give you my honest feeling about this product. I am not trying to earn money via this article but if you liked and you buy, which will make me the most pleasure is that you are not disappointed and that my opinion will have helped you make the right decision.

Last clarification on this point: it was the first time in my life that I went on an electric bike! I love cycling, and especially mountain biking, it is a hobby that I practice regularly and that fascinates me. By cons I am not at all an expert in electric bikes. I like to pedal in the climbs and above all go to the mountain descents. Here it is more an urban travel bike than a sports mountain biking. So in this article, I will simply give you my feelings. But in no case can I say that it is better or less well than such or such other model of electric bike, since it is the only one I tried.

Electric Bike Engwe EP-2 Pro: Test

A vehicle considered as a moped by French regulations

Since the readership of this blog is mainly French, I must inform you first of all on this point.

The Engwe EP-2 PRO is a powerful (750W) and unavoid electric bicycle model with an acceleration handle and which can reach 45km/h when using the most powerful assistance mode. According to French regulations, this type of electric bike is considered a moped (class L1E-B).

Concretely, that means that if you use it in an unavailable manner (which is still possible), you are not allowed to go to the cycle paths and you must register it. This bike therefore remains legal in France, but depending on the use you will make of it, you cannot use it as a bicycle on the public highway.

It’s important to know this information. After everyone will take their responsibilities … but it is still very nice not to be restrained.

Note that Engwe will be released in March 2022 the C20 Pro model which complies with the French standard to be used as an electric bike. You can read our Engwe C20 Pro test.

My prowe EP-2 Pro test

Now let’s go to the test in which I will try to dissect each element of the Engwe EP-2 Pro to give you my opinion. Let’s go .

Delivery and assembly
The Engwe bikes are made in China. It is a company based in China, but it has warehouses in the United States and the European Union. The sending to France is made from the warehouse located in Poland. The shipping costs are offered and you therefore do not have to worry about customs costs (which can happen when delivered directly from China). As far as I am concerned, I received my Engwe EP-2 Pro less than a week after ordering. I was pleasantly surprised.

But before that, you have to edit. It is 75% pre -assembled but still delivered in several parts. Nothing very complicated, but follow the instructions of the assembly guide. All the necessary tools are provided to you. You can help yourself from this video that details any step by step.

The most technical is the brake adjustment. At the start, the pads were rubbing the wheel a little which makes a fairly annoying noise. For everything to roll properly, you have to play a little with the cables which is obvious when you are not used to it. But this is the lot of any bike ordered on the internet, electric or not. If you have this problem, help yourself with this video.

Electric bike Engwe EP-2 Pro: Design

A design that does not go unnoticed

To be honest, I did not expect such an imposing bike. When you look at the photos on the site, you see a folding bike and it doesn’t look so huge. But almost
